the daintree rainforest

The Daintree Rainforest is the most ancient and primitive rainforest in the world with the Cape Tribulation section believed to be 135-million years old with some of the most significant ecosystems on the planet.   Mossman Gorge, located at the entrance to Daintree National Park is home to the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal Community and is the site of many local Aboriginal legends.

The World Heritage listed Daintree National Park starts just 15 minutes from Port Douglas at the exquisite Mossman Gorge and is serviced by a large number of unique tours running from Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation and The Bloomfield Falls daily.

The Daintree is a real wilderness experience. Take a walk around the renowned Mossman Gorge stopping for a refreshing swim along the way or join a Daintree River cruise and go in search of the elusive Estuarine or "Saltwater" crocodile and observe stunning native and migratory bird life, butterflies and breathtaking scenery.  North of the Daintree River is Alexandra Lookout offering panoramic views of the Daintree River Estuary and the Coral Sea and further north again lies Cape Tribulation, the only part of the world where two World Heritage listed areas meet.
